Next Steps
Some kids decide to walk on their first birthday. Apparently Jonah decided he should wait until the day that should have been his first birthday.
Today, as I was dropping him off at daycare and talking with his teachers, he pulled himself up next to a chair, let go (for reasons even he probably doesn't understand, since there weren't any toys or anything nearby), and took two steps. Heidi (one of the teachers) saw him out of the corner of her eye, as did I, but it didn't quite register for either of us until he grabbed back on to the chair and then plopped himself down on the floor.
Needless to say, we were all ecstatic (and Adam was sorry he wasn't there, as he had been for Noah's first steps). The question now is how quickly he'll decide to take his next steps.
In any case, however, Grandma Rhoda and GGMama were both wrong. Sorry he didn't wait until the 28th or 29th, but he's clearly following his own timetable. Happy first due-date birthday, J-bear!
